Ada Dickinson, MA, LMHC
Counselor
Ada joins WE CARE Counseling Center after many years in the area of helping people. She began her career as an art teacher. When she saw how the use of art helped her students express their feelings and needs, she decided to expand her career into the field of expressive therapies. She obtained her master’s degree in expressive therapy (art therapy) from the University of Louisville, and has worked in the field for the past twenty-five years. She has worked in a variety of settings including schools, foster care, hospice care, and private practice. Her focus has been on helping people overcome challenges with depression, anxiety, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, guilt and trauma.
Recently, Ada has added the use of The Cortina Method (TCM), a brain-based approach that addresses trauma, anxiety, and so much more. Just as she left teaching to pursue art therapy because of her belief in its healing power, Ada has found The Cortina Method has the ability to improve one’s quality of life within a short time with dignity and respect woven prominently into its philosophy.
